Welcome
Stretton Sugwas Church of England Academy is a happy, inclusive and ambitious village primary school where children are known, valued and nurtured as individuals. Rooted in our Christian vision of ‘Bee’long, ‘Bee’lieve and ‘Bee’have’, the school is a community where everyone is encouraged to feel a sense of belonging and to recognise the important part they play. Our guiding belief — “Each Bee plays a part in the Hive” — underpins school life and reflects our commitment to inclusion, respect and shared responsibility.
The school provides a rich, broad and balanced curriculum that places strong emphasis on reading, writing and mathematics, alongside a high-quality wider curriculum. Learning is carefully sequenced, ambitious and designed to meet the needs of all pupils. High expectations, effective teaching and well-planned support ensure that every child, including those with additional needs or vulnerabilities, is able to achieve well from their starting points.
Personal development lies at the heart of the school’s work. A strong pastoral ethos supports pupils’ emotional wellbeing, resilience and confidence, with the THRIVE approach embedded across school life. Alongside this, a well-structured PSHE and enrichment offer helps pupils to develop empathy, self-awareness, leadership skills and a strong understanding of how to stay safe and healthy.
Stretton Sugwas is a growing one-form entry primary school serving both the local village and a wider community. Partnership with parents, carers, the Trust, the Church and the wider community is highly valued. Relationships are built on trust, openness and mutual respect, and families are actively involved in school life. The Friends of Stretton Sugwas play an important role in enriching pupils’ experiences through events and fundraising.
Leadership and governance are vision-led, inclusive and focused on continual improvement. Staff at all levels are supported to develop their practice and leadership skills, creating a culture where learning, reflection and collaboration are encouraged. The school is outward-facing and engages with research, networks and best practice to ensure provision continues to evolve and improve.
Above all, Stretton Sugwas Church of England Academy is a school where children feel safe, listened to and inspired. Pupils leave as confident learners, kind citizens and individuals who believe in themselves and their ability to make a positive contribution to their communities.
